"It'd have to be one hell of a trick," she decides after a moment's thought. Not that she's against it, because yes, she, too, recognizes that the odds aren't in their favor, but James isn't stupid, much as it might appear that way for all that he comes off like a mindless machine. Whatever they come up with is going to have to be good, if they want him to move on. Otherwise, she imagines him just pretending to take the bait, waiting for them to get comfortable and then springing himself on them, when their guard is down.
